Pricing Shopping Online and Buying In The Store
Shopping online is so simple and easy. Typing in a few different searches for products and then visiting some sites is a great way to do shopping. The price differences might be a quick filter for narrowing down your shopping options.
The other day, I needed to get a usb flash drive and I wanted to get it kind of quickly. Waiting to get the product delivered was not what I wanted to do. Getting on the web and searching for a good price was the beginning.
Checking some of the sites revealed something. I might have expected that the lowest price might have been at the electronics store or walmart. The big box store actually did have a low price. The place that stuck out was target.
The target store had a really good price on a usb flash drive that was really low. I didn't know why the product was that cheap, but later learned why. The price on the target website was really good, so instantly the decision to pick up the flash drive from target was the plan.
The target website is well designed and they want to get you to buy online. I wanted to get the item quickly and noticed that they had the item at a few local target stores. They even listed aisle where the product was located.
The website showed a target store that was a little bit farther out than what I wanted to go. There were other stores close by and changing the store location was easy. They showed the other local target stores and if they had the item in stock.
It was not long before I was on my way to the store to go pick up the item. Getting to the target store was a breeze and the parking lot was filled up with people moving around. The cars were hunting for parking spaces and luckily one popped up kind of close to the door. The target stores are super clean and they have a great feel compared to walking into a walmart. The target stores just seem more upscale.
I knew the aisle where the product was supposed to be located, but initially I didn't see the aisle markings. I kind of figured that the product would be in the electronics section. The electronics section of target is usually at the back towards the middle.
I quickly started seeing the big tvs and before you know it, I saw the aisle that I was looking for. I immediately started taking a look at the products on the shelves. The section must be pretty active because there were some open sections where the items were empty. I quickly scanned to see the item that I had come for and it was not there. The pricing also seemed higher than what I saw online.
After a few moments, I decided to find a target employee to find the product. I walked over to the cashier in the electronics area a few rows over and started talking about the usb flash drive. I glanced down on the counter and there were a few more expensive usb flash drives right in reach.
The cashier asked a couple of questions and then he pulled out a hand held mobile device and started typing. I told him about me finding the item on the target website and the pricing and then he explained the deal. It only took a seconds and he said he would be right back. He had to get the item from the back. He reappeared in about a minute and scanned the item and got me the price I expected.
The internet pricing and the store pricing are different. He quickly rang up the order and handed me my receipt and the item. The whole experience was cool. I might end up buying another usb drive from target soon. The next time, I might buy it online and see the shopping experience of picking it up in store.
The part I really liked was being able to pay at the electronics station and walk out of the store.
